Leather Artist/Maker

Full-Time Position

Wendy Nichol is seeking a full-time Leather Artist/Maker.

Responsibilities:

  • This position requires an excellent ability to work with hands- cutting, painting, sewing, punching and braiding leather together.
  • The leather artist will work with the making team in our Soho leather atelier to create leather handbags and artwork for our customers and wholesale accounts.

Qualifications:

  • An ideal candidate will posses an understanding of how patterns work and the ability to look at a sample and understand how to recreate it.
  • This job involves a lot of physical handwork and hand sewing. Techniques will be taught in-studio, however previous experience with sewing is favorable.

Retail Store Manager

Full-Time Position

Wendy Nichol is seeking a driven Retail Store Manager to manage the operation and administration of two NYC-based retail boutiques. Primary responsibilities include:

Team Management and Development

  • Establish a highly motivated and harmonious work environment that fosters cooperation within the team.
  • Train and manage new hires while providing on-going training to existing team.
  • Set individual and team goals and proactively assess performances.
  • Plan and manage retail staff schedules.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of all merchandise and aspects of the brand.

Client and Business Development

  • Drive excellence in customer service and experience.
  • Establish a client-centric mindset in the store to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Initiate production of customer orders, requests, and repairs.
  • Oversee the collection and organization of customer information in company-wide database so as to assist in future purchases.
  • Field customer service queries and facilitate requests and repairs.

Selling and Floor Management

  • Ensure that stores are properly maintained at all times.
  • Inventory management and replenishment.
  • Collaborate with visual team to plan and install store displays.
  • Conduct product training.
  • Ensure that opportunities for improvement and/or any issues or concerns are communicated to upper management regularly and followed up on.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years retail management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Natural ability to motivate others and work effectively within a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Availability during key retail hours including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Retail Sales Associate 

Part-Time Position

Wendy Nichol is seeking a motivated, hardworking, and dedicated individual to join the Retail Team in full-time and part-time Sales Associate positions at our Soho retail boutique. 

This position reports directly to the Retail Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional sales and customer service. 
  • Initiate and build relationships with our existing and future clients to promote business through creative selling. Sales Associates must be motivated to build and maintain customer relationships and offer exceptional customer service. 
  • Work with Stylists and VIP clients looking for personalized experiences including custom clothing, handbag and jewelry commissions.  
  • Facilitate customer repairs and respond to sales queries.  
  • Maintain visual and general maintenance of the selling floor in accordance with Wendy Nichol’s visual presentation standards.  
  • Maintain store inventory. 
  • Support the Making Team in the finishing of hand-made products and merchandise. Training will be provided. 
  • Assist the Retail Team and Studio Management team in day-to-day operations.  

Qualifications 

  • Full understanding of specialty retail, including how to effectively clientele. 
  • A creative mindset and an appreciation for the esthetic of the Wendy Nichol brand. 
  • Experience and confidence in interacting with customers. 
  • Ability to operate a retail point of sale system with ease. 
  • Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel and Email. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to thrive within a fast-paced environment, multitasks with ease while maintaining a balance of daily responsibilities. 
  • Positive, outgoing, high-energy personality that is motivated and sales focused. 
  • Availability during key retail hours including weekends, nights, and holidays.
